  15. Do I have to shoot at 9mm brass at 35 yards?
  16. No, for club or backyard matches you can use a variety of targets at varying distances. The key is that all participants shoot at the same type targets at the same distances for any given match. The point of MiniSniping is to to have fun with the airguns you own whil stretching your shooting skills. So if you're air rifle isn't nearly as accurate as a match rifle, move closer, or if you have a superbly accurate powerful field target rig, move back. The bottom line is to have fun and improve your marksmanship.

Official MiniSniping.org competitions will shoot most matches using 9mm cases at 35 yards. However, other matches will be offered that will use other targets and at varied distances.

  17. Do I have to use a clay base for my targets?
  18. You don't have to use the clay base for local matches. You will need to use a clay base for MiniSniping.org eMatches so that all participants shoot under as similar conditions as possible.

The clay base is advised, to prevent the wind or shots hitting the base of the target stand from knocking the empty brass pistol cases over.

  19. How much clay do I use for the base?
  20. You can use as much or as little as you like. Just a thin layer is all that is really needed, just enough to secure the empty pistol cartridges.

    Back to Questions

  21. How far do I put the targets into the clay base?
  22. Usually just to the depth of the cartridge rim. If you stick the pistol cartridges too deeply into thick clay, you may have trouble knocking them over.

  23. Do I really need wind flags?
  24. No, they are not required. However, a big part of the game is based on judging the wind so using them is very helpful.
